Position Overview
This role sits at the core of execution within a growing clean technology company developing innovative processes for rare earth and critical minerals extraction and purification.
The organization is advancing from research and pilot activities toward industrial deployment, with early commercial traction including a first license agreement with Rio Tinto.
The R&D Project Manager plays a key role in bringing structure, clarity, and execution discipline across multiple technical projects. Working closely with the CTO, this person ensures projects are well planned, coordinated, and executed efficiently across teams.

Organizational context
You will act as the central coordination point between two core groups:
Research & Science Team
(technical reports, patents, documentation, proposals)Laboratory & Pilot Operations Team
(testing, experiments, pilot equipment, process data generation)
Your role is to ensure alignment, communication, and execution across both groups throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and manage multiple R&D and pilot-scale projects from initiation to execution
Translate technical direction into clear project plans, timelines, and deliverables
Coordinate daily activities across research and lab/pilot teams
Ensure alignment between teams, stakeholders, and project priorities
Review, comment on, and correct technical reports and presentations
Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions
Maintain structured and accurate project documentation
Anticipate issues and proactively resolve bottlenecks
Support communication with internal and external stakeholders
Requirements & Profile
5+ years of experience managing technical or industrial projects (R&D, process development, pilot or scale-up environments)
Strong ability to structure, plan, and drive execution across complex technical projects
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams (research, engineering, lab/pilot operations)
Solid understanding of processes, chemistry, or metallurgical environments (hydrometallurgy is a strong asset)
Comfortable working with technical data, documentation, and project tracking tools
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
Strong reasoning skills — able to challenge, ask questions, and make sound decisions
Professional, reliable, and comfortable in a high-expectation environment
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in organic chemistry, chemical, metallurgical or materials engineering
Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant discipline (asset)
Strong exposure to hydrometallurgy, mineral processing, or related process industries
PMP certification or equivalent (asset)
