Montviel Deposit

A long-term, North American source of rare earths and critical metals.

Because independence in clean technology starts with responsible resources.

1. Overview / Opportunity

Located in Québec, Canada, the Montviel Carbonatite Deposit is one of North America’s largest undeveloped bastnaesite REE resources.

It anchors GEOMEGA’s mission to build domestic, sustainable, and circular supply chains for clean technology.

2. Challenge / Industry Context

Global demand for rare earths is set to triple by 2040, yet >90 % of refining occurs in China.

New mines face environmental and social barriers, so development must be both responsible and innovative.

The path forward demands resources that enable progress without repeating the past.

3. GEOMEGA’s Approach

Montviel has been a testbed for GEOMEGA’s closed-loop technologies:

• The updated flowsheet now valorises approximately 40% of the ore into multiple offtake streams

• 95% recovery of REO and Scandium

• ~85% recovery of Niobium

• ~75% recovery of iron into a high-purity iron oxide stream (DRI grade)

• Iron phosphate product for the LFP battery market

• Mn/Mg salts for agriculture and battery sectors

Montviel demonstrates how clean mining and circular processing can coexist from day one.

4. Value Creation

Strategic benefits:

•Stable feedstock for North American REE supply chains

• Accessible by road and rail

• Around 100km from nearest Hydro Quebec substation

• Access to skilled workforce in the town of Lebel-sur-Quevillon

• Strong support from the local Waswanipi First Nation community

• Located in one of the most favorable mining jurisdictions

NI 43-101 (2015) - View PDF:

  • Indicated 82.4 Mt @ 1.51 % TREO

  • Inferred 184.2 Mt @ 1.43 % TREO

  • REE distribution enriched in Nd + Pr

  • Nb potential for alloy and energy applications

5. Environmental & Social Impact

Montviel prioritizes transparency and local partnerships with the Waswanipu CREE First Nations.

The technology’s objectives of tailings elimination, reduction of waste piles, reagents recycling and limited or no water discharge set a benchmark for responsible resource development.

Because a resource is only valuable if it leaves something better behind.

6. Partnership & Scalability

GEOMEGA is advancing metallurgical optimization and is always looking for partners to develop a local and sustainable REE supply.

Next Steps: Preliminary economic assessment (PEA), process optimization and piloting.
